Birth team / When it feels like you’re doing it all by yourself but you remember your spouse (and the medical team) is there to support you, through the toughest times

“A Mother’s Roar” This mother second guessed if it was truly labor for hours. I decided to just come her way as she lived an hour from me, and thank goodness I did. I arrived at 4:24pm, and as you can see from the time on the midwife’s watch, mama roared this sweet baby out at 4:27pm.

“Morning Birth Waves” * TW: Moments before this photo was taken, the mother experienced obstetric assault from a midwife who then told her she was not coping well and needed to transfer to the hospital. The mother ignored her and continued to labor how she wanted and how she believed she could, her strength and power truly engulfed the room.

“A Shared Cry” Oh the sweet cries of of new life. A baby crying as they experience this side of the world, a mama crying in relief as she realizes “I really did this.” This mom was so concerned she wouldn’t be able to handle the pain of birth after getting an epidural in the hospital, but she believed in herself and her body’s innate ability to do this, and she did it.

“New Life in the Interstellar” There is something so surreal in watching a newborn nurse for the first time. To see them drink the liquid gold that will now sustain them, while the organ that gave them life for 9 months now sits next to them in a bowl… it’s so serene, so beautiful, so cosmic.

“Here For You: The Birth of a Brother” The sweet 5 year old girl you see in this photo was so excited for the birth of her baby brother. The minute her mama got into the birth pool, she ran to her room and grabbed her polka-dot bathing suit bottoms eager to get in the water next to her mama. Not more than 10 minute later did she help catch her newest brother. She held onto his little arm until baby was finally on his mama’s chest.
